Admin. history/Biographical Sketch:
Paul P. Biringer was born in 1924.  After receivinghis early education in Hungary ( Technical University, Budapest,BA 1947) and in Sweden (Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm MA 1951), he came to the University of Toronto as a doctoral student in electrical engineering receiving his degree in 1956.  He was appointed to the faculty of the University of Toronto as assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering in 1957 and full professor in 1965.   Prof. Biringer alsowas a consultant to numerous companies in Canada, the United States, Germany and Sweden. Companies like Ajax Magnethermic Corporation and General Engineering Company of Toronto sought his expertise in the development of induction heating equipment and supplies. Between 1954 and 1969 he registered 26 patents on his inventions in Canada, France, Mexico, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.  He died February 10, 2000.

This fonds contains the personal records of Prof. Paul Biringer of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Toronto documenting his activities as a graduate student, professor of electrical engineering, author and consultant.
