Biographical Sketch: Born in England, 1888. Professor of vertebrate embryology, 1912-1956.  Died at Streetsville, Ontario, 18 February 1973.

Scope and content: Correspondence, offprints, pamphlets and press clippings relating to conservation (1938-1951), ecology (1902-1952) and philosophy (1925-1953); journals recording bird sightings and other events of interest to Coventry as a naturalist (1932-1959); correspondence, minutes, notes and circulars relating to the Federation of Ontario Naturalists; miscellaneous notes; Toronto Field Naturalists Club newsletter (1938-1956); notes and field data from sites across Ontario (1920s-1950s) relating to Coventry's research into vertebrate embryology; articles, addresses, aerial survey photographs. Two books on evolution belonging to and annotated by Alan F. Coventry:  J. Graham Kerr, "Evolution" (London:  Macmillan, 1926) and Harold Christopherson Morton, "The Bankruptcy of Evolution" (London:  Marshall Bros, 1924?).
