Biographical Sketch: Arthur Zimmerman received undergraduate and graduate degrees from New York University and was a professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the State University of New York before his appointment to the University of Toronto’s Department of Zoology in 1964. He held many administrative positions at the University of Toronto and was a consultant to the U.S. federal government. Zimmerman retired in 1999. His research interests include the cell cycle, the mechanism of cell division, and the effects of hydrostatic pressure and drugs on various cellular processes.

Scope and content: Correspondence, professional association files, manuscripts, editorial files, grant applications, notes, photographs and other materials documenting the professional activities of Arthur Zimmerman as professor and administrator in the Department of Zoology and editor of various journals.
