Admin. history/Biographical Sketch: Donald Glen Ivey was born in Clanwilliam, Manitoba on February 6, 1922.  He received a BA (1944) and MA (1946) in physics from the University of British Columbia and a PhD (1949) from the University of Notre Dame. He was a professor in the Department of Physics from 1949-1987. In addition to his teaching and research activities, Prof. Ivey held a number of academic and administrative appointments including Principal of New College (1963-1974), Associate Chairman (Undergraduate Studies) in the Department of Physics (1978-1980) and Vice-president Institutional Relations (1980-1984).

Scope and content: Personal records of Donald Ivey, documenting his career as a professor of physics, teacher and administrator at the University of Toronto. Includes records relating to his early education at UBC and University of Notre Dame; professional and personal correspondence; administrative correspondence, notes and reports; pre-university education activities with the Department of Education; public television programming mainly with the CBC; manuscripts of addresses; lecture and teaching materials; and some manuscripts of articles and other publications, and photographs.
