Partner in Nimmo and Bain, Publishers in London, 1878-1880.  Appointed chief librarian, Toronto Public Library, 1882.  Died of cancer in Toronto, 22 May, 1908.  Received honorary degree (D.C.L.) from U of T, 1902.

Scope and content: Notices, programmes, addresses, excursion pamphlets, and other material pertaining to the 1897 meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, held in Toronto in August of 1897.
