Admin. history/Biographical Sketch: John Henry Alexander Munro was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on March 14, 1938.  He earned a BA (1960) in Economics and History from the University of British Columbia, an MA (1961) and PhD (1965) in Economic History from Yale University. He taught at UBC from 1964 until 1968 when he accepted a position as associate professor in the Department of Political Economy at the University of Toronto. He held administrative roles within the department and with the Centre for Medieval Studies.

Scope and content: Correspondence, diaries, lecture notes and course material, files on professional associations,  research files, manuscripts, photographs, audiotapes, and artifacts documenting John Henry Alexander’s university education and teaching, research, and administrative activities as a professor of economics and medieval studies. Research files relate to European economic history from 1200 to 1600.
