On Display: Freedom Ride - Black History at the University of Toronto

February marks Black History month in Canada, the annual commemoration of the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians to our society. The University of Toronto Libraries celebrates that history by displaying items from our collections that highlight the many contributions and achievements of the University’s community of Black Canadians in shaping our modern University.

The items presented are from archival records and publications created by faculty, staff, student groups, and organizations and preserved at the University of Toronto Archives as well as the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library. It demonstrates the diversity of Black Canadians roles in the University’s rich heritage, as well as in the larger Canadian community.  The University of Toronto Archives encourages archival donations to the University Archives, in order to preserve this documentary heritage, so that future generations can better understand their contributions, opportunities, and challenges.
