Biographical Sketch: Thomas Forsyth McIlwraith, Jr. attended the University of Toronto (BA, 1963 and MA, 1966) and the University of Wisconsin (PhD, 1973). He joined the Department of Geography at Erindale College (now University of Toronto at Mississauga) in 1970 and chaired the department from 1990 to 1993. He retired in 2005. McIlwraith’s research has focused on the history of trade and commerce in the Ontario and Great Lakes region and the geography of oceanic discovery and North American settlement.

Scope and content: Course lectures, notes and related teaching materials, talks, addresses, field trip notes, and other material documenting Thomas Forsyth McIlwraith, Jr.'s teaching and research activities as a professor of geography and his work on various heritage boards.
