Biographical Sketch: Tony Clement was born in Manchester, England in 1961 and came to Canada in 1965.  He graduated from the University of Toronto (University College) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1983 and received an LLB (Bachelor of Law) degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, in 1986.   He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1988.

Mr. Clement was President of the Progressive Conservative Party from 1990 to 1992.  He was elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Brampton South in June, 1995.  Subsequently, he was appointed by Premier Harris as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation. In 1999 his riding became Brampton West-Mississauga. He served as MPP until 2003 when he became involved in federal politics.

Mr. Clement has been the Conservative Member of Parliament for Parry Sound-Muskoka since 2006. He was Minister of Health (2006-2008), Minister of Industry (2008-2011), and President of the Treasury (2011-2015). In November 2015 he was named Official Opposition Critic for Foreign Affairs.

Scope and content: Course notes, term papers, calendars, and handbooks documenting Tony Clement's activities as an undergraduate student in Arts at University College (1979-1983) and as a student in Law (1983-1986); correspondence, minutes, notes and press clippings documenting his extra-curricular activities, especially with the University College Literary and Athletic Society, Students' Administrative Council, Lawyers for Fundamental Freedoms, and the University of Toronto Progressive Conservative Association; files documenting his post-graduation activities in a number of University-related organizations, especially the University College Council and the University College and University of Toronto Alumni Associations.
